Hello, I’m Olly, the videographer and editor at White Heather Films.

Having been in the video industry for several years, I filmed my first wedding back in May 2021. At the time what was simply a favour to friends unexpectedly turned into a huge privilege; I was able to bottle up the day, and gift it back to them, so they could look back on and relive one of the happiest moments of their lives.

Wedding videography is unlike any other work that I’ve experienced. I think my favourite moments are when I capture a small but beautiful moment, unnoticed by the couple, that otherwise they might never have seen.

So why White Heather Films? I love to explore Scotland with my partner, and while we tramp through the sea of purple heather, we always keep an eye out for the rare and elusive white heather. It is said to grow at the resting place of a faerie, and it brings luck to the finder, especially to brides, who should carry a sprig in their bouquet for good luck. So whether you choose us for your big day or not, I wish you the best of luck with your wedding day and your marriage.

To ensure you have the best day possible I try to approach all my weddings with a few keys principles in mind:

Let the day happen

I try to stay discrete, especially during the ceremony, so that you can just enjoy the moment, and (aside from during the couple’s shoot) I avoid ‘directing’ you and your guests, and simply let the day play out before me.

Be a positive presence

On the day I’m a relaxed and positive presence - happy to have a chat, or a giggle, or just let you do your thing. I mostly just do what I can to put you at ease and make sure you have the best day possible.

Be true to your day

I know how much effort has gone in to every detail of your day. So to best reflect its individuality, I never edit films to a template. This does lengthen the editing process, but it means that the final video truly reflects your day.
